The Battles of Lexington and Concord was the first military engagement in the Revolutionary war. It took place on April 19, 1775 within the towns of Lexington, and Concord. When the British government found out they declared Massachusetts to be in a state of rebellion. The effect of this battle was the start of the American Revolution and a colonial victory.
